Horizontal and Vertical Multi Stage Pumps

HORIZONTL MULTI STAGE PUMPS FOR SALE
A pump that contains different stages within the piping system where force is applied to the water. Each stage consists of one impeller as well as its accompanying diffusion components. The term “multistage” is usually used in reference to centrifugal pumps.
In many cases, these pumps are referred to in terms of how many stages they contain. For example, a pump with four stages might be referred to as a four-stage pump, or one with 10 stages would be referred to as a ten-stage pump.

VERTICAL MULTI STAGE PUMPS FOR SALE
A "vertical multi-stage pump" also known as "vertical centrifugal pump" uses a unique configuration between the shaft and bearing support that allows the volute to hang in the sump while the bearings remain outside the sump. This type of pump doesn't use a stuffing box (assembly containing a gland seal; prevents leakage between moving parts) but instead a "throttle bushing".
A centrifugal pump that has two or more impellers - whether mounted on the same or different shafts - is called a multistage pump.
A vertical multistage pump contains two or more impellers. The majority of the multistage pumps have their impellers on the same shaft. The fluid flows into the inlet of the pump casing where it flows into the eye of the impeller.

VERTICAL MULTISTAGE PUMP CHARACTERISTICS
Vertical centrifugal pumps are well suited for situations where there is not a lot of surface area, their design will minimise their footprint but they will conversely require more height or head space. They deal well with liquids with high pressures, temperatures, and their NPSH (net positive suction head) can be changed to match a wider range of uses. Larger multistage pumps will require a pit and barrel. An important aspect is that unfortunately Vertical centrifugal pumps can only be coupled with electric motors. A draw-back is that liquids with high amounts of dissolved gases are difficult to manage and can cause damage to mechanical seals.
